Please review the last two warden messages that were released last night by the US Consulate General in Jerusalem. I will also be forwarding a map of the gay parade locations which you all should avoid today.
security Advisory - Due to the Israeli ongoing operations in Bet Hanoun, I advise you all to avoid gatherings especially near city center locations in the WB/G. Protests are often spontaneous so you should remain on high alert during travel into the WB districts. Also, there is a high anti-American sentiment that is seen at these protests, so avoid displaying US affiliation.

November 9, 2006 WARDEN MESSAGE In reaction to recent Israeli military actions in Gaza and the resulting civilian casualties, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has called for three days of mourning and a general strike in the Palestinian Territories from Wednesday, November 8, through Friday, November 10. On November 8, military leaders of Hamas openly called for Muslims worldwide to take action against American interests. These calls for action may result in organized or spontaneous anti-American demonstrations or other incidents, which could turn violent. Americans are encouraged to limit travel, review their personal security practices and avoid large gatherings of people. We strongly recommend that all travel to the West Bank and Gaza be curtailed at this time. For the latest security information, Americans should regularly monitor the Department's web site at http://travel.state.gov/, where the current Worldwide Caution Public Announcement, Middle East and North Africa Public Announcement, Travel Warnings and other Public Announcements can be found. Up-to-date information on security can also be obtained by calling 1-888-407-4747 toll free in the U.S., or, for callers outside the U.S. and Canada, regular toll line at 1-202-501-4444. These numbers are available from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time, Monday through Friday (except U.S. federal holidays.) Americans in Jerusalem are strongly encouraged to register with the Consular Section of the U.S. Consulate General through the State Department's travel registration website, https://travelregistration November 9, 2006 WARDEN MESSAGE On Friday, November 10, a Gay Pride parade is scheduled to take place from 11:00 a.m. -3:00 p.m. in the general area of the Knesset in Jerusalem. Over 5,000 participants are expected. The local press has reported that there may be large demonstrations protesting the parade that have the potential for turning violent. American citizens are encouraged to keep this mind in deciding whether to attend the parade. Road closures can be expected throughout the park surrounding the Knesset and the Israel Museum. The parade will start at 11:00 on Kaplan St. (across from the Prime Minister's Office) to Rothschild, then to the Israeli Museum junction, down Stephan Weiss to the Science museum and then into Grossberg Stadium. It is scheduled to end at 3:00 p.m. For the latest security information, Americans should regularly monitor the Department's web site at http://travel.state.gov/, where the current Worldwide Caution Public Announcement, Middle East and North Africa Public Announcement, Travel Warnings and other Public Announcements can be found.
